Dundee Station Redevelopment

A new £17.9 Million railway station is in preparation in Dundee. This New Railway will provide a five story station concourse and a hotel, cafes, restaurants and retail units which will create more jobs for the Scottish locals in Dundee. The proposed station concourse will occupy the site of the existing concourse which is a 1960s extention to the original Victorian station buildings. The building is being created to be an impressive new landmark within the central waterfront development and will also be an attractive new gateway into the city for rail passengers and tourists. Completion for this project is set to be autumn 2016 to coincide with the planned opening of the new Victoria and Albert museum which is anticipated to be a significant tourist attraction to the area.
Highland Main Line

By developing the Highland Main Line this will create a faster journey time of 2 hours and 45 minutes between Inverness and the Central Belt with an average journey time of 3 hours and an hourly service by 2025. By developing the Highland Main Line connections between the north of Scotland and the Central Belt will improve and the economics for the whole of Scotland. Development started in 2012 and has so far increased services from 9 to 11 trains per day which has reduced journey times on some services by up to 8 minutes at a cost of £1.2 million. The highland Main Line has rail connections from Inverness to Kyle, Thurso and wick, Edinburgh to Glasgow, Perth and Inverness, Interchange station connections, Bus stations and ferry ports. This will give tourists the chance to explore Scotland's stunning scenery via transport.
